Operator, Operator

Operator, Operator was the LA Pistons' first (and, unfortunately their only) released "A" side 45rpm original. Recorded at Paul Pope's "Yogi Recording Studios" out in Elyria, OH as ASCAP 302050A © 1983. The label on the 45 says J. Carlson (lyrics and guitar) and S. Dean (lead vocals and guitar). Other band members who were involved in this recording were: David Koski on bass, Joe Oros on drums and COWBELL, Cool Bob Doo-Lang-A-Leng on keyboards (and sax ?). Maybe Bob can tell us what it's like to sleep in an elevator sometime. The hired horn section was composed of Brad Stevenson on sax, Joe Jewel on trumpet, and Tim Dorman (who was also the light man for LA Pistons' live gigs) on trombone. These are the same guys who played horns on Modern Lover.

The "B" side of Operator, Operator was a tune called Dance With Me that never got played, even on one of those obscure NPR shows. Why Modern Lover (below) was never released is a topic for another blog in another time zone.
