Lonesome Cowboy Dave / Brainrot Radio Theatre aired on WCSB 89.3 during the mid 1980's and into the early 1990's on Thursday nights as part of the ESO Radio Show hosted by the late Chaz Smith. The show was a weekly radio skit performed live, on the air, without benfit of any type of rehearsal, and usually with only one copy of a loosely bound, pages torn and shredded outline of a script that was passed around the studio from character to character as his or her next line was due to be read. The first act of the "script" was usually written by Dave, the second act by Dan. Neither knew what the other was writing and it was left up to the actors to ad-lib their ways into making the two acts seem like they were supposed to be parts of the same story. Between the two acts, there was always a "commercial break". That was how the idea for the ads came to be...

Most of this copy was written by Dan (aka "Psychopathfinder") and Dave (aka "Lonesome Cowboy Dave")... umm help me out here Danny. These are some of the ads that aired during the Lonesome Cowboy Dave/Brainrot Radio Theatre segment of the Thursday night ESO Radio show hosted by Chaz (Scabby Daze) at WCSB 89.3 Cleveland, OH. Some of these were recorded in the studios at WCSB, Chompers was engineered by Tim Dorman at his home studio as were Ferman the Furrier, and Mini Megs Pocket Thunder. Danny D did the entire ESPizzeria and Jack Ruby Tuesday's at his home studio. Dave DeLuca did all of the voices on Ferman the Furrier. He was also Hiroshima Schwartz in Mini Megs and does most of the "lead" vocal work on most of these ads. The other ads had various cast members doing voices, baby poop, dog barks, and other sound FX.

The bottom line of the list has a special copy of the "Chompers" ad. On July 14, 1989, Cowboy Dave and Psycopathfinder were guests on WWWE's Gary Dee Show. Gary was nationally syndicated in the afternoon time slot and he was hugely popular, with a very large audience. Cowboy Dave and his entourage had made two other appearances on Gary Dee's show and were beginning to achieve "cult" status, which was why Gary was interested in hosting them for a third appearance. On the cut that is provided above, you will hear Gary coming out of a commercial for a drapery company and then announce "Lonesome Cowboy Dave and Psycopathfinder from the college radio station", and then the "Chompers" ad starts. Before the ad completes, Gary stops the tape and lays into Dave and Psyco for being lewd, crude, and basically tasteless and boots them out of the studio. Actually, the Cowboy and his faithless Indian sidekick stayed in the studio for a short time while Gary Dee took calls from his audience to let THEM decide if Lonesome Cowboy Dave should be allowed to stay or be kicked off the air. They were never invited back to Gary's show even though this clip is hilarious.
